Hidden In The Depths

Deep beneath Lake Valdis lies an underwater network of caves and tunnels. Though few people even know the underwater networks exist, a group of animals as well as a small, foreign clan of elves reside. Due to both their culture, and sudden transportation to the realm of Aeris, the Elves let no one into the caves unless they have Elven blood, innate magical abilities, or some kind of use. Those caught down there are either kept as prisoners, or, once interrogated, allowed back up to the surface after having their memories wiped.

About two centuries ago, after deciding that the royal family would stay for the time being in Aeris, they also realized that there was only a single heir to the throne. After a small debate, it was decided that there would be two others, and that was it. Their eldest son, Reed, was quite wise, and suited for the throne. His younger siblings, Reed and Arya, on the other hand, weren't quite that mature. On the other hand, while Reed was quite strong physically, Arya and Reed were blessed with two of the rarest, and sometimes considered the most mysterious affinities, solar, and lunar powers.


After about eleven years, when Reed had grown to the ripe age of 18, and Arya and Reed 7, a small quarrel arose between a family of dark faeries and the clan. In the end, the faeries were all but slaughtered, and that left but on young five year old girl faerie. She was taken prisoner, but later, after taking a liking to the girl, Queen Xandra allowed her into the family. Around eleven years after that, when the humans finally started to inhabit Aeris, and the town was founded, a small human girl also found her way into the Lake, and then the clan's hiding depth. As a result, they couldn't actually allow the girl to go back to her home, even if it did seem a bit drastic. Deciding that the girl would be a good fit, for she was professionally trained with a bow, and seemed like an able candidate to be trained in sorcery.


From that day forth, there have been four different heirs to the throne, for Artemis could never be fit for the elven throne.

About eighty years ago, when this colony was first established by the parents of the current King and Queen, this dungeon held those who were either unlucky enough to stumble onto this grand place, or those who were taken as prisoner during turf disputes. Of course, after many years, almost all of the elves either joined the tribe, or were killed. And so, the use of the dungeon decreased. That was, until many odd rodents began to inhabit the lands. To the queen and king, it seemed that the hares had been living there before they themselves, and knew the terrain so well that they constantly stumbled upon their secret domain. Of course, they couldn't risk taking any prisoner, though, they did try. And, that was what led to the great accident.


One day, when the clan first discovered that they weren't really the first ones to inhabit Aeris, not by far, a small squad was sent out by order of King Willow's father to bring back as many of the horned rodents as possible. Of course, this worked, but only for a little while. After being kept in the dungeon for such a large period of time, the group of Jackalopes began to kick at the dungeon walls, and after about a year, the walls collapsed, letting in the lake waters. Thanks to the guards outside, who gave their lives to protect the rest of the clan, it was sealed off just in time.


To this day, no one can open that door, and the dungeon still remains flooded with water. it is said that if a magically skilled elf is well educated, they can use their magic to get to the inside of the dungeon, but no one has ever dared to.
