Wanderers of Aeris Empty Wanderers of Aeris

So despite the fact that I personally don't roleplay as a quad, I've been talked into joining this forum. As I understand it this topic will be moved when a section for humanoids is made. I ask that you don't flame a humanoid out of this section until that time comes to pass.

Name: Ranatl Dewsinger
Species: Wood Elf Vampire
Gender: Male
Age: 75, but his body ceased aging at 15.
Hair: Auburn, long.
Eyes: Crimson
Weight: 65kg, (145 lbs)

Physical Description: Ranatl stands at a rather short 162cm (5 foot 4 inches) but his body is built rather strong despite it's limited stature. His light auburn hair has lost some of its red hue over the years and now only has a hint of that coloring. The mostly brown mane falls to the middle of his back, but his bangs are often oiled up if he has the means to do so. For a wood elf, Ranatl's skin is very notably pale. Most of his race have a deep bronze skin, but he barely even has a tan. Many scars crisscross the exposed portion of his flesh, though only a single one exists on his face. This scar is a deep trench running sideways across both of his eyes before forking down on either side and running all the way down to his jawline.

Ranatl is often garbed in the outfit of a simple forester -a full brown doeskin regalia including chaps, boots that come midway up his shin, and a sleeveless tunic- but will occasionally dress in more formal attire if the situation requires it. Aside from the few times that he is found in formal attire, Ranatl is most often found with an oak greatbow slung over his back alongside a quiver over arrows. On his hips sit a pair of blades. The blade on his left hip is easily a meter without the grip while the blade over his right hip is likely no more than 35cm in length.

Biography: Ranatl was born to a forest-dwelling tribe of elves many years ago, but this tribe was not very keen on the use of magic as their religion forbade it. This was not enough to keep a foolish young elf from meddling in it, but the elders seldom cared since none of their tribe had succeeded in learning the arcane arts without leaving the tribe of their own accord to study. However, Ranatl had a gift for magic. It came quite naturally to him, especially illusion spells. When he was a lad, Ranatl made use of his ability to conjure up bursts of light, or to bend light around him, causing de facto invisibility. With these powers he caused a great deal of rather meaningless mischief at his tribe's expense. Eventually the elders' discovered that he was behind all the pranks that had been going on, and their investigation led to the discovery of his sorcerous powers. Despite only being 15 at the time, the elders unanimously decided to exile him for violating a sacred law of the tribe.

Still young and immature, Ranatl was thrown into a fit of rage by his expulsion from the tribe. He sought revenge against the tribe for the humiliation they put him through, regardless of the fact that he was merely getting his own just desserts. Despite his magical inclinations, Ranatl lacked the physical strength to best his clan's warriors in a test of strength, and his pride kept him from merely using his invisibility to slaughter the entire tribe with ease. Instead he traveled for the nearest human city in search of power.

Ranatl's journey ended before he ever reached the city. On the road there he was ambushed by a group of bandits. Armed with only a dagger, he stood no chance against their attacks. They were merciless. By the time they left, Ranatl laid on the ground in a pool of his own blood. He was only barely alive, and had been robbed of all his possessions sans his clothes. Several days passed before Ranatl awoke in an unfamiliar bed. His memories were fuzzy at best. He remembered hints of a fight, and a vague shadow of a figure standing over him. Beyond that, there was nothing but blood. He recalled the taste of blood, the smell of it, the sight of it all around him, and the feeling of losing so much that he knew he was dead. Yet despite this, he was not dead.

-Insert more stuff that I'm too tired to write here-

Vengeance was beyond him now. The training under his savior, under Vlad, had taught him much for sure. He roamed the world for decades in search of somewhere to call home. All that he wanted now was somewhere peaceful and quiet to call home. The world dominated by humans disgusted him; it was full of violence and strife. Rumors eventually reached his ears of a land called Aeris. This small island had only recently been inhabited by humans. Perhaps here, Ranatl could find peace for some time before the humans ruined this land as well.

Wanderers of Aeris Empty Dante

Post  Thepowerofpie Wed 03 Aug 2011, 3:08 am

So I decided to port a character over from another RP that got all planned out and then never really happened. Idk if he'll get used, but I'll just leave this profile here because why not. A little background info about the world he comes from: Its a biopunk (genetic alterations are the new superscience, see batman beyond for an idea of what it's like) dystopia set in the year 2060. At this point the middle east has been largely destroyed due to massive bombing campaigns in world war three, and the world is about to enter it's fourth world war. This time the sides are America, India, and Japan versus China and most of Europe. These alliances provide a relatively balanced amount of funding, genetic research capabilities, and population for both sides leading many to believe this will be a long and bloody war.

Name: Dante
Species: GM Human
Race/Ethnicity: N/A
Sex: Male
Age: 27 years
Height: 6 Feet 2 Inches
Weight: 165 Lbs

Genetic Description: Dante is one of the first generation of parent-less humans. The entirety of his genetic code was hand crafted to create a being at a higher physical and mental level than was possible by merely altering a naturally created oocyte. His code contains a mixture of DNA from several species, but the great majority of his genetic heritage is human with canines being the second largest contributor. The other noteworthy contributor to his genetic code is primate DNA.

His arm and chest muscles are sculpted by the primate (Gorilla specifically) DNA giving him exceptional upper body strength. Meanwhile his lower muscles have been altered with canine DNA to give him better running capabilities. His senses of smell and hearing are augmented considerably by the canine DNA as well. Dante’s mental faculties are full of potential as portions of some of the greatest thinkers of our time’s genetic sequences have been replicated in his Brain’s genetic code.

Physical Description: As tall as Dante may seem to someone from the early 21st century, by the present day his height is only slightly above average. His naturally dark brown hair is cut rather short but is usually hidden by a boonie or a helmet. His gaunt face is usually coated in a five o’clock shadow that seems to always be there regardless of the time of day. On the side of his skull, a bit higher than usual for a human, sit a pair of ears that are closer to resembling something that belong on a husky than a human. Despite the genetic alterations to his nose, the only abnormal feature is the shape of his nares. Unlike most humans who have cylindrical nostrils, Dante’s start as as small slits before swirling into a wider opening closer to his face.

In the rare event that Dante is actually seen without being coated in camouflage it should be noted that his body is quite well sculpted. From the condition of his muscles it is evident that working out is more of a way of life than a hobby for him. His skin is tanned from a lifetime spent under the sun, though anything beyond his elbows is a few shades whiter.

The main hint that one was looking at a genetically engineered human was not his well toned chest, nor was it anything in his nearly perfect posture. The obvious hint that he was modified was the part of him showing genetic science was still a ways from perfect when he was created. This defect was the dark brown tail that falls almost to his ankles when he is standing upright. The other possible hint is that he lacks a belly button, but his chest is usually covered by clothing so this is far less obvious.

Phsycological Description:
If there’s one thing that genetics can’t fix, it would probably be the mindset of a human being. Since he was little Dante has essentially been treated as a weapon by everyone around him, and this has led to serious issues in the way he sees himself. Compounding his treatment by others, there has also been a complete lack of normal socialization in his life. Treating a four-year old as if they are already in the army is a great way to keep them from being able to function normally in conversation. Where Dante’s caregivers failed he was able to fix a bit of the issue himself by embracing Internet based message boards.

While he has learned to role change between how he treats ranking military personnel and how he treats individuals on the internet he lacks any real middle ground between the two. Because of this he often comes off as either robotic or immature depending on which style of conversing he is using at the time. Thus far he hasn’t made any real friends, let alone acquired a romantic interest. This is likely due to the aforementioned lack of normal social skills.

History: Dante was “born” 9 months after that final alterations were made to his genetic code. He was not born in the traditional sense, but rather was released from his artificial womb. With no chances of a birthmother’s misbehavior to disturb his development Dante was born perfectly healthy.

Rather than attending a traditional school Dante was taught everything from English to Martial Arts by private tutors that were surely costing the military a pretty penny. With a strict regimen of tutoring assisted by a genetically enhanced brain Dante had completed a high school level education by the time of his 14th birthday. As a present for completing the work so quickly, the Navy’s Supersoldier program that was in charge of raising Dante gave him a laptop computer. It didn’t take him long to find out that the average person’s life was massively different from his own, and that his appearance and capabilities were considerably different from most of the normal citizens of the world.

It also didn’t take Dante very long to find people who looked at the world in a very different way from him. There was a group back in the year 2011 known as Anonymous whose ideas caught is interest. While the group itself was long dead, many still followed their ideas and referenced them as a guiding light in the fight for true freedom. All of his tutors had stressed that freedom was incredibly important, and that freedom was the number one thing that Dante should be fighting to protect, but these followers of Anonymous were convinced that America only allowed the illusion of freedom rather than true freedom. Their argument was rather convincing and Dante spent many sleepless nights wondering about the true meaning of freedom, and why it was so worth protecting. After all, his life had been largely void of anything remotely resembling freedom for as long as he could remember.
The years continued to pass, and Dante had completed enough coursework in military sciences to receive an honorary bachelors degree from George Washington University by the time he was eighteen. When he wasn’t busy with coursework Dante spent most of his time either sparring with one of the various martial arts tutors from his younger days or putting rounds down the firing range.

His weapon of choice in these times had shifted away from the standard issue firearms of the navy towards a pair of custom tuned desert eagles he had requested from the armory. These models featured a more rugged frame with quickly changeable barrels and extended clips to allow a 10+1 ammo count. The extra ammo would keep him from running dry too early in a firefight, and using custom 650 grain .50 action express rounds a single shot is enough to punch a hole through most non carbon-nanotube based personal body armor. While these were his personal favorite weapons, he still maintained above average proficiency with virtually every standard operating weapon in the Navy’s arsenal.

How he came to Aeris: War is often the spawning bed for a myriad of seemingly insane inventions. War has brought us the jet engine, nuclear power, and radios, just to name a few. With the onset of WW4, every side was scrambling to create technologies that would give their side the upper hand. One division of physicists on the America-India-Japan alliance side came up with one of the most startling discoveries of mankind's history. They discovered that there were indeed infinite parallel universes, and it was possible to travel between them. These scientists had created a device that would allow them to send soldiers to alternate universes, but they were still unsure how to determine which universe the soldiers would appear in.

For fear of accidentally fusing the soldiers together in some bizarre accident with the transport, soldiers were sent to different universes one at a time. The scientists had thought that as long as they didn't alter the settings on the dimensional transporter, that everyone would still end up in the same place. What they failed to realize is that the many dimensions are in constant motion, much the way that the celestial bodies in the night sky are never still. They also expected their interdimensional communicators to work.

While they were successful in managing to send Dante to a different dimension, they managed to send him there alone, and his communicator was useless. Having accepted the fact that he has nowhere near enough knowledge to send himself back, Dante resolved to live a new life, free of the burden of warfare, in this new world. He spent a few years on one of this world's major continents learning the language, and adjusting to this more medieval way of life. He traded in his old camo for some more appropriate attire.

-will finish after lunch break-
